  • They bow or nod when greeting

  • They also use formal introductions

  • The chinese don’t like touching people they don’t know well

  • People point with an open hand

  • Being late is considered impolite

  • People bring gifts when visiting a friend or older person

  • People use chopsticks when eating

  • Food is put in the center and each takes what they want

  • Mandarin is the official language but in some places Cantonese or Kejia is spoken

  • A polite phrases are Ni hao ma? meaning How are you?

  • People commonly ask Ni chi fan le ma? Which means Have you eaten yet?

  • You should never stick your chopsticks upright in the rice because it is considered rude (It is done at funerals)
